Diederik van der Toorn, project manager Foreign Direct Investments, recently went to the far-east, where he visited current investors from Taiwan and Korea, and met with innovative companies looking to expand to Europe.
‘Taiwan and Korea are the 21st and 13th economy respectively and both countries have a very strong technology industry. Especially in sectors such as semiconductors, robotics, automation and manufacturing they are home to many industry leading companies. In Flevoland we are proud to host some of the leading companies from these countries, such as the world largest bicycle manufacturer Giant, pharmacy automation solution provider JVM and innovative AI startup Lunit who uses AI to detect cancer in early stages. Together the Taiwanese and Korean companies in Flevoland have invested over 50 Million Euro and employ over 750 people in our region’.
‘It was a successful visit including good meetings at the TIMTOS Taipei and the Automation Expo Seoul, with innovative technology companies whom are looking to Europe for further growth. It was also very good to catch up with our NFIA partners in Seoul and Taipei, and visit the Netherlands Office Taipei and the Netherlands Embassy in Korea.
