With its strong agriculture and the space and mentality for business to grow, Flevoland is the perfect province for innovative foreign companies to expand their business. This week our project manager Qing Marr-Li visited KWS Benelux and had a very pleasant meeting with managing director Dick Wouda.

The company in Nagele is a subsidiary of KWS Group, one of the world’s leading plant breeding companies. KWS Benelux is dedicated to the R&D of innovative seed breeding for healthy and productive plants. Their high-quality products range from maize and surgar beets to turnips. They use leading-edge plant breeding methods to continuously improve yield for the farmers and the resistance of the plants to disease, pests and abiotic stress.

Dick and Qing discussed the growth plan of the company, the challenges the company is facing, such as finding qualified personnel, and how Horizon can support their needs. They talked about the possibility of creating internship positions, in which Horizon can help by connecting KWS with the various knowledge institutions.
