Update Potato Europe 2021

We’re happy to provide you with another update from Horizon Flevoland about Potato Europe and the progress that’s being made here on the ground.

We would appreciate your sharing this information with interested parties in your region and we are happy to work with you to make sure Potato Europe can fit into the agenda of foreign visitors.

More than 173 companies in the potato value chain have confirmed their participation, with more than 1/3 of exhibitors coming from outside the Netherlands.  This further demonstrates the importance of the Netherlands to the global potato chain and the importance of Potato Europe as the location to bring people together to learn about important developments.

Conference Program Taking Shape
With the theme “What’s New, What’s Now, What’s the Future,” the two-day conference for international visitors is beginning to take shape.  Speakers from Wageningen University will join professionals from the potato chain to discuss global challenges such as soil quality, decreasing loss and adapting to the changing climate.

Additionally, there will be an innovation prize awarded by a jury of  Dirk Duijzer, Dick Hylkema, Ernst van den Ende en Jaap Delleman.

B2B Matchmaking Made Possible by Enterprise Europe Network
Enterprise Europe Network will organise (in cooperation with DLG Benelux) a b2b matchmaking for visitors and exhibitors at the Potato Europe event from 1-2 September 2021 in Lelystad (NL). Before and during the Potato Europe event, we invite visitors and exhibitors to book meetings through our website to find a business match! The meetings will take place at the event in a dedicated business area.

How does it work?
Through our b2b matchmaking website, exhibitors and visitors can register and fill in their business and partnersearch profile. On the website all profiles are visible so participants can easily see with whom they would like to plan a meeting. Meetings will be arranged via the website and can be booked for 30 minutes per meeting. Via our b2b matchmaking website you can meet and match with several potential new business partners for commercial and technological cooperation.

Update from the Topsector Agri & Food
Topsector Agri&Food is one of the 10 top sectors in which the Netherlands excels worldwide. Business, Universities, research centres, government and social organisations work together on knowledge and innovation, internationalisation and human capital in order to strengthen this position.
We stimulate new knowledge and innovations, first and foremost by creating and financing public private research and innovation projects.
Through international cooperation we actively aim to connect our Dutch organisations and agenda to innovative companies, universities and government abroad.
This is why we are very happy to – together with a.o. Horizon Europe, WUR, Agrifood Cluster – be part of the Potato Europe and co-organising the symposium at its new location of WUR at Field crops in Lelystad.

During the symposium  - we will build on the Theme of this years edition called “What’s now, what’s new and what’s the future”. We will invite companies and organizations that are part of our international PPP projects to share their stories and how they support innovation in potato chain in different part of the world.
We’re in contact now with potential speakers from both private and public side to share their stories on high tech automation and data in the chain towards and climate smart production.

We want to receive your delegations and connections
Horizon Flevoland is working closely with partners including DLG, Agrofood Cluster, other Regional Development Agencies and the municipalities in Flevoland province to organize fact-finding trips for VIP visitors, as well as a network borrel for our international guests.

We are happy to help make introductions and organize visits for international delegations, please don’t hesitate to contact Eric Hanson (eric.hanson@horizonflevoland.nl) for more details or to discuss any inbound visitors you’re aware of.  Due to the location of Flevoland in the center of the Netherlands, a visit to Potato Europe can easily be combined with a visit to Food Valley, Rotterdam harbor or of course Amsterdam.
