We’re pleased to share with you a few updates from Horizon!

Comings & goings
Âne Papma retired on April 1st. Âne has worked for Horizon Flevoland for the past 10 years. First as Project Manager FDI and then as Team Leader International. Âne played an important role in the transition from the OMFL to Horizon Flevoland.

In addition, our colleague Pieter de Boer will become Area Director for the NFIA in San Francisco. Pieter will stop at Horizon on June 1 and will start in the US in August.

Our colleague Aalex Jansen succeeds Âne as team leader International. Aalex has been employed by Horizon as Project Manager FDI since April 2020 and previously worked for 2 years at the Oost NL Development Agency, also as Project Manager FDI. Aalex is available via aalex@horizonflevoland.nl.

Our team has been strengthened as of May 15 with a new acquisition manager, Mrs. Qing Marr-Li. Qing has extensive international experience in the tourism, hospitality and retail industries, with the key markets being China, SEA, the Unites states and Europe. For the past 20 years, Qing worked for Royal Delft and Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet. Qing is available via qing@horizonflevoland.nl

Potato Europe 2021
Europe’s largest trade event for the potato sector will be held 1 & 2 September on the grounds of Wageningen University’s Field Crops campus in Lelystad.  This event offers a great opportunity to explore developments from breeding robust new varieties to the latest harvesting and processing equipment.

Thanks to support from the TopSector Agri & Food, a Holland Lounge will be erected at the event by Horizon, the Dutch Potato Association (NAO) and the Agrofood Cluster that is intended as a welcome mat for international visitors.  Should you have contacts interested in attending from abroad, let us know and we can include them in our pre-event VIP day in Emmeloord (World Potato City) as well.

Floriade 2022
The Floriade is a world-renowned horticultural exhibition held every ten years at a location in the Netherlands.  The next edition will be in Almere from April through October 2022 and the preparations are in full bloom!

Together with the province of Flevoland, the gemeente Almere and the Floriade organization, Horizon is currently conducting a final investigation among stakeholders in the region to crystallize what local businesses expect and wish for in a B2B offering to best capitalize on the international nature of the visitors.  We look forward to informing you of the progress and parameters of a B2B program later this year and are happy to entertain any questions at the current time.
