Trade and Innovate NL, the national network of public organizations focused on the further internationalization of Dutch businesses, expanded today to include the 12th partner, Horizon Flevoland (regional development agency for Flevoland).
Horizon Flevoland is committed to helping entrepreneurs grow while addressing larger societal questions relevant to future development.  As a partner in Trade and Innovate NL, Horizon Flevoland adds to the collective strength of the network to better support both Flevoland and Dutch businesses in realizing their international ambitions.
Flevoland, a natural province for export
Since the creation of Flevoland, export has had a vital role in the provincial economy.  Examples include the world-renowned yield from arable farming on the polder, European fishing capital Urk and the growing high-tech sector focused in metro Amsterdam.  Products from Flevoland can be found in all corners of the world and with the completion of the multimodal Flevokust harbor, imports and exports of goods to and from major sea ports has been made easier than ever.
According to Horizon Flevoland director Marco Smit, “Horizon is proud to be the newest partner of Trade and Innovate NL.  This allows us to support local entrepreneurs even better as they look to expand abroad.  And ultimately, further internationalization of Flevoland businesses helps create a stronger and more durable busines climate here in Flevoland.  And that’s our primary task.”
Importance of Trade and Innovate NL
Dutch companies have been impacted by COVID-19 and competition from developing economies is ever increasing. Trade and Innovate NL is committed every day to the further internationalization of the Dutch business climate, which is more important today than ever.  Through cooperation by various parties, the Netherlands has a stronger position abroad.
“We can only help the Netherlands weather this crisis by seeking to innovate together.  Through collaboration between national government and local public organizations, we can take targeted action that is relevant for our entrepreneurs,” said Annete Wijering from the Netherlands Enterprise Agnecy.  “Today we’ve taken an important step in Flevoland: by welcoming Horizon Flevoland, Trade and Innovate NL is now active across the whole of the Netherlands.”
